The short version

Utarlo uses your location on your phone to tell how far you are from your station. That location is not sent to us or to anyone else. There is no account and no sign-up. We use Google Analytics to count anonymous app and website usage.

Who we are

Utarlo is an Android app published by Rhine Pereira, Mumbai, India (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Utarlo app and this website, utarlo.rhinepereira.in.

What the app uses, and why

• Precise location. While a journey is active, the app reads your GPS position to measure the distance to the station you picked and sound the alarm when you enter your chosen radius. This happens entirely on your phone. Location is not stored as a history and is not transmitted.
• Background location (foreground service). So the alarm works with the screen locked, the app keeps tracking in a foreground service and shows an ongoing notification while it does. Tracking stops when you end the journey.
• Notifications, vibration and full-screen alerts. Used to show tracking status and to wake you when you reach your station.
• Files you choose. If you pick a custom alarm sound, the app reads only that file to play it.

What is stored on your phone

Your selected station, alert radius, alarm volume, vibration preference and custom alarm sound choice are saved in the app’s local storage so they’re there next time. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes them.

What we collect

Utarlo has no accounts or advertising. The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous usage data: app opens, screens viewed, session length, app version, device model, OS version and approximate country or city derived from your IP address, linked to a random app instance ID. It never receives your GPS location or the stations you choose. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy. If you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply.

This website

This website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to count visits and see which pages are read. You can block these cookies in your browser or with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.

Children

Utarlo is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone.

Your choices

You can revoke location, notification and other permissions at any time in Android settings. The app cannot sound the arrival alarm without location access.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
